I have been using Firefox for a few years now, and really grown to like the del.icio.us addon, which lets you store your bookmarks on a central service. This means that no matter where I am or which computer I use, _all_ my bookmarks are always immediately available. It also categorizes bookmarks by tags rather than by folder, making maintenance of bookmarks way more flexible than the classical folders view. The Firefox addon completely replaces the browsers standard bookmark functionality and is a joy to use. I would really like to use Opera more, because it has several areas in which it seems to be better than Firefox. But I am struggling finding a replacement for the del.icio.us addon. So far I have found the following alternatives: - There are three del.icio.us-related widgets for Opera that I know of. None are usable at all. - I found a page with instructinos to create buttons for posting and accessing del.icio.us bookmarks. These buttons are effectively bookmarks themselves. Basic access to the bookmarks works fine, although posting new ones are more of a PITA than with FF/addon, and I sorely miss advanced features such as opening all bookmarks tagged with for example "work" in different tabs with a couple of clicks. - Subscribing to my own bookmarks and tags using RSS. Totally PITA, as this means accessing a single bookmark takes many more clicks than it should. Any tips? It does not really have to be del.icio.us; The most important functionality for me is the synchronization of bookmarks between Opera on multiple machines. -- Sendt med Operas revolusjonerende e-postprogram: http://www.opera.com/mail/ |
