Here's another *feature* (...that I may have selected?) that I can do without:

The Unread messages panel is given a tab and selected, at Opera's launch. Even before I've entered my password! I've fiddled with various prefs...and haven't been able to shut this behaviour off.

Any ideas?

Arggh! (I know: Talk Like a Pirate Day isn't here yet.) But I figured this "feature" out.

I'd set my user account (in XP) to recognize Opera as my email client. And had been launching it via a shortcut in the Start menu, that specified it as Email. So-o...

I pinned the desktop shortcut (...yeah, I know: but I usually have them hidden...) and pinned that to the Start menu, too. And launching Opera via it lets Opera behave normally.

(I wish I could say such a misunderstanding will never happen again. But I know better: <http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=248973> from long eXPerience. And I sometimes miss my Mac very, very much.)
