Can anyone please tell me why I can't create a restore point? I go through the motions, create restore point, name it and then click on create. I get a message saying System Restore is not able to create a restore point. Please restart your PC and then run System Restore again.

I did this twice with no luck.

Thanks,
Dan

Best guess I can make is,
backup your stuff ASAP.

It is likely time to do a
fdisk format reinstall.

Something has gone "ka-blooey"

Good luck!

That's ridiculous advice.

Thanks! I'll try to return it some time!

There are ways to troubleshoot system restore
problems.

Fine! So I gave the best advice I could, and someone with
better advice came along and gave better advice!

Where is the harm? I doubt if the person ran right over and
formatted their hard drive.
They LIKELY waited to read a dozen posts to see what was the
BEST advice they got.
I merely TRIED to HELP. Is that a crime?
In the LONG run, if all the advice you guys have given has
not helped, the person can follow MY advice and in a couple
of hours--- problem solved!

Malke gave the appropriate advice to go to to a good web
link
developed by someone who has expertise in system restore.

He / she also posted AFTER I did.

That's much
better advice than a best guess.

Says who?

And what if Malke hadn't posted?

Are some of you trying to make this group an exclusive club
where a certain MINIMUM level of expertise is required for a
person to post?

If so, please refer me to the FAQ.

Or lighten up!

Good luck!

The point is to give good advice that is pertinent to the problem. Most any problem can be addressed by doing a clean install - but it's not needed most of the time. This is a consistent problem with you. That there are tools and resources available for troubleshooting system restore is something that is posted frequently in this group. You don't seem to learn from what you read. If you don't have the knowledge wait for someone else to post that has it and learn from that. That's how you increase your skills. Your way, on the other hand, is to post this kind of off hand guessing advice and/or insult the people who do offer
it.
