BITS "Path to Executable" is Empty

I cannot download windows updates because BITS is failing.  The 
WindowsUpdate.log file states:

2005-06-18      19:27:10-0500    808    33c     DM: GetBitsManager failed with 
0x80246008.

When I open BITS in the services window, the service status is "stopped".
When I try to start it, I get "Error 3: The system cannot find the path 
specified".

The "Path to executable:"  is blank!

My other computer has the following in the path:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

How do I update the path?
Appreciate any help/suggestions.
