IE7 and Spry Menu

I opened a new file using a DW template (2col elastic, header, footer).
 I removed the content of the sidebar. Made no other changes.
 Inserted Spry Vertical menu into sidebar, saved and opened in Firefox. Menu 
worked perfectly with flyouts flying out.
 Opened in IE7 and no flyouts.
 Is this common and are there cures?.
