Vertical text alignment in menu spry

I tried to search this topic with no success.  I have created a horizontal spry 
menu bar.  I cannot get the text to align vertically.  Everything lines up to 
the top of the bar.  To the best of my knowledge I have tried editing the 
"vertical alignment" in the block section of every css rule in the stylesheet 
except the submenus since there are none of those.
