No images in design view

I know this has been asked before and I've searched out each one and went 
through to make sure I had everything in line before I asked.

 1.) "Display External Files" is checked in the View menu
 2.) The files are stored on a server AND I have them on my local hard drive. I 
have the proper path i.e. <img 
src="http://www.blahblahblah.com/image/whatever......>

 I have other files on my local drive and my server and I put those image paths 
in there and they show just fine. But now it seems no matter the type of file I 
save from either PS or Ai Dreamweaver can't find the file????

 All that I see right now is the little gray 32x32 box with the ripped paper 
looking thing on it...

 Anyone have a clue??????
