Keeping Search Entries in Search Form

I have a search form with a drop-down list and 2 text fields.  I want the form 
to save the users entries when they click the submit button.  Currently, the 
form clears after the users submits.  Any ideas?  I am using php as the 
development platform, but a javascript solution may work fine.
