Your right, it should be a 1 minute process. In the past it had been working
with the mysql administrator; however, I wasn't getting connected to the db
that I needed. So I started screwing around in the terminal and the root
password. I'm thinking I screwed something up. Obviously this is my first
crack at this.
I have now reinstalled mysql 5. when I try starting from the terminal I get

When I try from the myql administrator I get
Could not connect to mysql instance at localhost.

I've tried when i'm logged in as a root user and when i'm not (using the mysql
The server is running, but I can't connect to it????? When I look in forums
it says something about privileges. Sometimes it all ends up being greek to
me. Sorry for being such a pain in the butt, but it would be absolutely great
if I could at least get this connected.
