Running Multiple Movies?

As in, I know there are a limited number of sprites Director will allow me to 
have in one movie, but I heard I could somehow "link" a thousand movies if I 
wanted to (Please don't think I want to in your responses) and run them in the 
order I want. 

 Any truth to this?  Can you please provide a link or something?
