Contribute network/local connection

I have just set up an apache webserver, and need to administer that site with 
contribute.  However, when I try to set up a connection with the connection 
wizard and it asks me for my network location ("\\Apache\intranet") It 
says"Contribute cannot verify your connection information '//Apache/intranet' 
Please contact your network administrator" Does anyone know how to get 
contribute to allow me to administer to a network location?
