Like ke4pym said, ColdFusion 6.1 is not supported for java 1.6. It does not 
run.  The ability to update JVMs was to allow you to update from 1.4.2_0 to 
1.4.2_16.  There was never any expectation that CFMX6.1 would run with every 
future release of Java.
