Hi everyone,

more I use the new functionalities of CF8 (some existed since 6 actually),
more I start to have a feeling. Is it just me or Adobe is really want to push
us, programmers, to go to something else? Maybe Flex? In fact, there is so many
important differences between creating a CFGRID in Flash, in HTML or in APPLET.
Why? I think I understand why - in one word: complexity - but is it not suppose
to be not so different?

For an example, I was searching during 2 days how to click opn a row of my
CFGRID in Flash to open a CFPOD on top (in another table on top of the CFGRID)
to EDIT the information of the row I selected. In factk, the row was displaying
few fields but since the table contains much more fields, I want to proceed
like this. The CFGRID is really nice lloking in FLASH but does not permit to
click on a row and being redirected to a URL. something that seems logically
simple! Maybe for the CF9??? Anyway, I learn that only the CFGRID in the format
of HTML can do that! The look is really not the same but do I have a choice?

ADOBE, are you encouraging us to use the Flash format or the HTML format? I
though the Flash format was the focus for the next version but it is not seems
to be enough complete!

And there also important difference with the APPLET format! Each of those
format have their utility (ies) but the look if really-really different and
when we are developping web applications, we care a lot about the look of the
feature because we need to be "corporate" and corporate cannot switch the user
from one look to the other when using a similar feature (in this case, we will
imagine using CFGRID in different purposes with different format, which is not
acceptable because of the look and programming issues as well).

Let's say that I lost so many time this week in trying to encourage all thos
new features that come with CF8 that I start to depreciate the programming
language I love most! I am programming ColdFusion since the version 4 (2000)
from Allaire and always been following what ColdFusion had to deliver. this is
the first time, as far as I can though, that I got so frustrated about the
language that help me to pay my house!!!

Maybe I should just transfer my words in a wishlist for the next version!

Sorry for my hard criticism and hope everybody a very nice day!!! Please don't
get me wrong; ColdFusion is one of the most powerful Programming Language to
develop strong web site and web applications and I still want to use it after
all those years! It serves me and surely can be much more use by the industry.
I just feel that the recent fusion between Macromedia and Adobe had come with
an experiment version (CF8) and I just hope that CF9 will be stronger in that
sense!
