When I do this:
 <cfdump var="replace is #replace('abc&def...abc 
#chr(8230)#','#chr(8230)#','?','ALL')# char 8230 is #chr(8230)#">

 I get this
 replace is abc&def...abc ? char 8230 is ? 

 The ampersand did not get replaced.  Neither did the 3 periods.  chr(8230) did.
