anyone written a combined pop3 client / imap server ?

Someone asked recently if it's possible to share an email account with other 
people. Eg. Everyone have access to deleted items, sent items, inbox, etc...

 I was wondering if anyone has written a combined pop3 client / imap server ?

 Each customer's email client (outlook) would plug into the imap server giving 
access to sent items,inbox, deleted items, 

 The same imap server would routinely collect emails from the customers pop3 
account and send emails using their smtp server.
