Two ways you can find packages with Ubuntu (and the various forks):
Method 1:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/
which is a nice web page to search based on which version and arch you have.
Method 2:
aptitude search <package search string, such as apache>
This will produce a list of results matching the string (use "kernel" as a test
run) to show (a) what is available, and (b) what state of installation it is in
(i.e., install, virtual package, available).
