Just quickly, this is all what I was getting at towards the end of my 
email thread about wanting to use one version across the board. Even for 
plexus this looks like the case: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/PLX-104

We need to split projects into not only modules, but releasable subsets, 
which share a version. We should probably start another thread.
