I upgrade my sid daily. So, last upgrade of bittornado happened 24 Jun 2006.
python-related stuff was updated (reverse sorted by upgrade date) at:
Aug 16 2006:
[INSTALL, DEPENDENCIES] python-minimal
[UPGRADE] python 2.3.5-11 -> 2.4.3-11
(and after this upgrade bittornado stoped to work for me)

Aug 15 2006:
[UPGRADE] python-central 0.5.4 -> 0.5.5

Aug 11 2006:
[UPGRADE] python-support 0.3.9 -> 0.4.0
[UPGRADE] python-support 0.4.0 -> 0.4.1

Aug  7 2006:
[UPGRADE] python-central 0.5.3 -> 0.5.4

I think earlier events are irrelevant.

I still think this looks like a python-support problem, so I've
reassigned it to that package. If I'm wrong, let me know.
