This is #381969, but I have a bad feeling that this is going to be filed
over and over again if I want to leave it that way.
I'm inclined to leave everything in the app-defaults file commented out
and if anyone again has a problem with font auto-selection (apart from
the kanji stuff) leave a bug open for that, instead of working around
it. What do you think?

Hm, this one shouldn't happen now, as there is not a resource with
higher priority anywhere (or there shouldn't be... check your xprop
-root RESOURCE_MANAGER maybe). I'll look into it.
