[laptop-discuss] Toshiba Portege R700 backlight

Subject: [laptop-discuss] Toshiba Portege R700 backlight

I am having troubles with a Toshiba Portege R700 (i915) coming out of
suspend with Solaris 11 Express - the backlight goes extremely dim
(probably off). I enabled S3 support via a change very similar to the
one found in 6758492 (ppm.conf entries).

In all of the CR's I can find with similar issues, the hotkeys offer a
workaround. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case for me. It
did work once (my first try) but never again. Before suspending, the
hotkeys do work to dim and brighten the display. After resuming, I
can see the ghost of the on-screen display thingy indicating that it is
getting my input when I press the hotkeys.

Also, if I have it connected to an external monitor (only displaying to
the external monitor) the external monitor seems to not get a sync
signal on resume.

Are there any suggestions for workarounds? If not, are there
suggestions as to where I would start hunting for this bug?

TIA,
Mike
