arts engine doesn't cause a delay, but doesn't play (only because I haven't 
configured arts).  Also, the file seems to work with the gstreamer engine just 
fine. The Xine engines is the default and seems to offer more options on 
speaker placement and such.

I also tried the test version of xine-lib 1.1.1-r3 with the same results.
