cvs [commit aborted]: out of memory; can not allocate 225281184 bytes

Hi All,
I am trying to checkin a file of size 227 MB to a CVS server running on
LInux. On server /tmp (CVS is using it for it processes) has around 1012 MB
of space in which 930 MB is free. I have no CVS processes hung up. But i am
getting the following error while committing it.

cvs [commit aborted]: out of memory; can not allocate 225281184 bytes
