BalanceNG 1.672
by Thomas Obermair (http://freshmeat.net/~thomasobermair/)
Sun, Oct 15th 2006 12:06
About:
BalanceNG is a modern software IP load balancing solution. It is small,
fast, and easy to use and setup. It offers session persistence, different
distribution methods (Round Robin, Random, Hash, and Least Resource) and a
customizable UDP health check agent in source code. It supports VRRP
(Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) to set up high availability
configurations on multiple nodes. It integrates pcap packet dumping for
debugging purposes and allows the implementation of a "transparent
forensic logging bridge".
Changes:
The new boolean parameter "localdsr" allows operation of BalanceNG in
single legged DSR (Direct Server Return) mode directly on the target
machine itself. Network Address Translation (NAT) has been implemented,
including state synchronisation between master and backup node. The manual
has been updated to release 1.672.0.
Release focus: Major feature enhancements

Ever wonder why HP has seven consecutive years of Linux market share
leadership? Maybe it's our portfolio of best-of-breed partner products, or
HP value-add in management, high availability, and virtualization. Maybe
it's the integrated, consolidated infrastructure of HP BladeSystem,
single-source accountability and solution support from HP Services in 160
countries, or just our unwavering commitment to the open source
community.
