IANAL, but I guess your rewritten tutorial is still a derivative work of the original one. The structure and much of the wording is still very similar to the original. I would think that the original copyrights still apply; I don't think you can place this in the public domain as-is. You'd need to really rewrite it *from scratch*, neither re-using the structure nor wording of the original one (that is, not using the old one as a blueprint for the new one). Please correct me if I am wrong, but renaming variables and rewriting some functions will not suffice to free (read: de-GPL) code either. -- Daniel Roethlisberger http://daniel.roe.ch/ |
