this is certainly an upstream issue, and an ugly one. I suggest you
create those pipes in a temporary directory like
/tmp/.gjay.$UID.$RANDOM, which you set to 0700 permissions before
creating the pipes. Make sure to use a safe way to create the
temporary directory (mktemp, I think).

Subject: Bug#310269: fails to delete /tmp/gjay_*
X-Mailer: reportbug 3.11

Package: gjay
Severity: normal

The program fails to delete the files (pipes?)
        /tmp/gjay_daemon =20
on exit.
This makes it impossible for another user to start
gjay afterwards.
The usage of those files also disallows multiple
users to run the tool at the same time, perhaps the
username could be attached and perhaps the permissions
should be more restrictive.
