Tomasz, the Debian bug #287108 (http://bugs.debian.org/287108) is
certainly of some interest for you..... Can you have a look at it and
at patches proposed by Alexander?

(Alexander: Tomasz, to who I forward this bug report is shadow's
upstream maintainer.....see below for explanations)

Thanks for the care taken reporting this.

I am in the process of gathering a few people for putting more work on
the Debian shadow package.

The first goal will be getting closer to upstream by incorporating
recent changes made by Tomasz and probably soon release an
experimental package for shadow 4.0.8.

My current concern is isolating all patches introduced in the Debian
package during its life and have the new maintenance team examine them
as well as discuss them with Tomasz.

Your proposal will certainly be among them. I'm myself unable to
properly judge it, so some input from Tomasz will certainly be

let me know. This will probably not start soon, for not interfering
with sarge release...
