Hi Carter,

I've been a bit remiss in passing this on, but there's a problem with the
top-level Makefile for (I think both argus and argus-clients) where stuff

all: force
        @for i in  $(DIRS) ; do \
                if [ -d $$i ] ; then \
                echo "making in $$i"; \
                cd $$i; \
                make; \
                cd ..; \
                fi; \

means that if the subsequent make calls return a non-zero exit status, th=
is largely ignored, and I think the result is the result of the final cal=
to make. So compiling in one of the subdirectories can have failed, but t=
top-level Makefile marches on regardless.

Can you look into reengineering the Makefiles for 3.0.8 so that they
properly fail when something goes wrong?
