Hi,
the same problem appears with Windows XP SP2. After downgrading Samba to
the previously used version 3.0.5 it is working again.
The server is a single processor PII Debian Woody system running kernel
$ uname -a
Linux gateway 2.4.18-bf2.4 #1 Son Apr 14 09:53:28 CEST 2002 i686
GNU/Linux
So, the problem appears with kernels even before 2.4.20!
The effect I saw, was that the Windows Explorer was hanging when
accessing any Samba share. Sometimes the Explorer crashed after a time
and I had to restart an instance via the "New Task..." menu but
sometimes the Explorer was just hanging.
I attached logs from nmbd and smbd while using Samba version 3.0.7.
Unfortunately I did not run with a higher debug level.
Cheers,
Michael
