Bug#273983: Acknowledgement (allegro-demo: choppy sound and video)

Subject: Bug#273983: Acknowledgement allegro-demo: choppy sound and video
From: Mikolaj Konarski

I did a few more tests. All the games work OK on kernel 2.4.27
with the same version of NVIDIA drivers as on my original 2.6.8.
The games do not work OK on 2.6.8 even after removing all the
sound directory from /lib/modules/. The sound then isn't choppy ;),
but video still is.
More precisely what games are affected on 2.6.8:
-- all-demo (1600x1200 especially), wing, rafkill (all under allegro) have choppy sound and video -- starfighter, heroes-sdl -4 -F (both under sdl) have choppy video, but good sound, this may be or may not be related to the allegro problems
-- heroes-sdl -2 -F is almost OK
-- heroes-sdl without options is OK on my Duron 884Mhz

As said before on 2.4.27 they all work good.
My kernel is 2.6.8-6, preemptible and no especially strange options, I guess.
The problem happens with both anticipatory and cfq schedulers.

Perhaps the problem is not only with allegro,
but allegro fares the worst, so this is were I put the bug report.

Help! :)
Mikolaj
