I think the bug, of using "compat.rules without devfs.rules too" should be
reopend. At the vary least compat.rules should #include devfs.rules so
that users won't be able to break there systems. However the other
solutions I posted should be evaluated as a way of providing
""compat.rules"" for inodes that by default have devfs names. For example
compat.rules could contain a copy of the important(dependent) parts of
devfs.rules.
I would like to see symlinks for these "inodes that by default have devfs
names", compat.rules lookes like the way toget there.
