I too have this problem ("run filters on this folder" not working).
I'm running the 0.8 thunderbird from mozilla (not the debian package).
I notice that the filter-log does record the actions, but only on
messages that pop-fetched by thunderbird itself (into inbox).
For example, I have a debian-user folder, and a filter that
automatically puts everytign with X-Mailinlist: <debian-user...
into the debian-user folder. This works OK.
However, if I move a message from the debian-user folder back into
Inbox, and then click on "run filters on folder", nothing happens,
and nothing is recorded into the filter-log.
BTW, when I first ran thunderbird (about a week ago), I clicked on the
"copy settings from mozilla" button, and inititally I had problems
because of that (wouldnt connect to SMTP or NNTP servers), but once I
removed a few lines from IIRC perfs.js, everything was OK again.
I did fear that there still are a few lines like that that are having a
bad effect on thunderbirds functioning...
However, I just tested with a different user (where I didn't click on
"import settings from mozilla"), and there the filters work the same way
as I describe above
I did try the debian mozilla-thunderbird package, but I cannot get it to
run at all at the moment. (I'll file a bug report if I figure out more
about that).
Thanks,
joostje
