? ? ? I'm afraid there is confusion here. The Samsung referred to
above is my DVD apparatus. I can mount that and read stuff off of
it real good. Under sarge I did a big back up to it. I haven't
tried writing to it under my new etch .
I have tried Mike Shade's suggestion about just calling the device.
Same answer.
Back to sound: I can't play my .wav files. But there is nothing
wrong with the HW, because I get a squawk from my speakers when
I boot.
I thought etch was the new "ancient old stable Debian"! I feel as
though I'm on the cutting/bleeding edge. (I should however say
that the Debian system, with my three DVDs from CheapBytes) works
just the way it is advertised to: I do an apt-cache search , I'm
told what is available, I become root, run apt-get install, the
system tells me what DVD to insert, etc etc . There is something
else awry, it seems)
So please keep the help coming. How'm I going to learn anything if
I don't have teachers???
