export surface as ASCII

I have a data array which contains the control points of a NURBS
surface. Is there a possibility to export the Z values of this
surface as ASCII file? Using the Data Cursor is an appropriate method
to obtain values of a few points, however it is a very cumbersome
method to analyse a complete surface.

Any help would be much appreciated!
