Hi. I'm using emacs 22.1.1 on Ubuntu. I've got a fairly fast computer (Athalon X2 4800) and 2 gig of ram. I don't believe my problem is a slow cpu or disk caching. Most of the time emacs just starts. Fast, clean, nice. But sometimes there is a delay of 30 to 60 seconds. I assume it is doing "something", but by the time time I start up a monitor to check cpu usage, it's running :) Any pointers on why this is happening and what to do to avoid. Thanks. |
