It is interesting to see that my own frustration in getting started
with Gnus was no accident.  Under "sending mail" I found a lot of
advice on how to do what I would call *composing* mail, but nothing
about how to send it.  A friend, on the basis of experience with other
mail programs, guessed that it might be to key c-C c-C, and so it
was.  Much later, I found that that information was in fact in the
manual, but in another & inobviously labeled section, I forget which.

The successor to RTFM, evidently, is FITOFM (folklore is the
only...).
