Dear colleagues

APNIC has now implemented the second phase of the globally coordinated
transition to four-byte AS numbers.

Organizations submitting requests for AS numbers from 1 January 2009
onwards will be assigned four-byte AS numbers by default. Organizations
wishing to be assigned two-byte AS numbers can state this in the request
form.

For more information on the implementation phases of the four-byte AS
number policy, please see "Policies for Autonomous System number
management in the Asia Pacific region" section 6.3, "Timetable for
moving from two-byte only AS numbers to four-byte AS numbers":
