Sorry I couldn't give you a definite answer to your main concern (which
now has me wondering and a little concerned, myself).
It occurs to me that your checksum concern really relates primarily to
use of VFC as an alarm that is capable of warning of possible malware
infection. For me, though, this is only a secondary consideration. My
primary interest in outbound control is just to be able to put a stop to
any "phoning out" that I consider unnecessary, or for reasons of my own,
undesirable.
