Thanks. That was a fascinating link. I LOVED the part about
modifying the model numbers according to how much of the chip is
NFG, and >>especially<< loved the Intel 486-487 - DX/SX -
FPU/"no FPU" - incompatible sockets story. BEAUTIFUL.
That aside, I am not about to spend several hundred dollars
(that's what it would cost me here) on a graphics card which I
don't need.
I would just like to find out whether the Intel Extreme Graphics
X4AGP embedded in the 845G chip in a P4 2Ghz w/256MB will run a
game which requires:
Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
733 MHz Pentium 3 (1.2 GHz Pentium 3 recommended)
128 MB RAM (384 MB RAM recommended)
32 MB GeForce2-class (64 MB GeForce3-class recommended)
8x CD-ROM (16x CD-ROM recommended)
DirectX 8.1 compatible video and sound card required
I know the GeForce, NVidia, etc are graphics accelerator cards
for serious gamers. Some are better than others, especially than
the ones avail. a few years ago. I do NOT know the difference
between 2-class and 3-class let alone whether it can at all be
compared to the IntelXG. So I am just asking whether the IntelXG
will fulfill the seemingly modest card reqs listed, or whether I
will >have< to buy a basic 64MB card.
(IOW, I am not interested in buying 2GB of system RAM and a $400
graphics card with 512MB of RAM and a fan bigger than the system
fan, getting subscriptions to several gaming magazines, and
changing my entire way of life. AFA the "recommended" system
RAM, I can get another stick of RAM if really needed. That's
simple enough.)
But, as is SO OFTEN the case in "help" groups, I guess I will
just have to get the game and try to run it to find out. Sigh.
Thanks for your posts and the link especially in any case.
