I remember going to school through a couple of feet of new snow quite often.
One Thanksgiving the sky dropped 18" of snow in 1.5 hours.
Un-freakin-believable! I was driving a little car - Mercury Capri - and the
snow packed up inside the engine compartment, melted, shorting out the
recharging system: I think it blew the diodes in my alternator. I was a
college student (read that as "penniless") so for the next 3 months every
time I turned the car off, I had to open the hood and disconnect the battery
so it wouldn't discharge through the damaged alternator. That got OLD fast
in the freezing weather!
