97 instances? Wow! (Windows XP typically groups multiple instances like
that - no problem there.) How long do you hold down the keys? Maybe a key is
sticky? It might be that the applet won't run until the keys are released,
so if one is sticky, maybe it keeps resending the keystroke over and over
until it finally gets 'unstuck' and releases. Try the Ctrl and Alt keys from
the other side of the keyboard - maybe that would work differently.
