I have fixed a LOT of things on my Windows machines (hard and
soft), so while no expert, I am no beginner (15 years with this
crap) yet I would be wary of attempting to install/run Linux.
Not that I do not believe it is superior, but I do believe it's
not for beginners (unless it' the first time they see a PC), or
even semi-stupid people like me. Anyway, if you tweak and use PC
Lite, and have enough memory, Windows is not that bad, really,
Just don't use ANY other MS programs (including OE) and you'll
be fine.
BTW for those for whom Win XtraProblems is not enough,
apparently Vista will come in EIGHT versions, 2 for Europe,
without WMA (since Gates doesn't have the courts in his pocket
over there). What a fine mess that will be. They will probably
make it impossible to switch to another VISTA version without
paying full price for the second one. FWIW, I will never run
anything higher than 98SE Lite. (Just my OPINION, ok?)
Not to mention since IMHO XP is just one big call-home trojan, I
can't wait what "new vistas" Vista will open up for the
overlords.
